Experience

Optimizely

Senior UI Engineer, 2016-present
San Francisco, CA

I currently help lead the Design Systems team and our open source UI library OUI. As members of the design team we work closely with the product designers and researchers to maintain a visual language that's consistent, branded and thoughtfully implemented by our engineering teams. We write and maintain documentation and generator tools, a React component library, a SASS library for CSS styles and helpers, and support various in-house products.

PagerDuty

Senior Web Developer/Designer, 2014-2015
San Francisco, CA

I helped run the PagerDuty web site, keeping it fast and useful. We redesigned the website to be responsive and mobile-friendly with performance in mind, and the new site loaded twice as fast.

Big Sea Design & Development

Lead designer, 2013-2014
St. Petersburg, FL

As lead designer I ensure our sites are responsive, well-structured and easy to maintain. I take designs from concept to fully built and ready to use, but also work with a small team of in-house developers to build out Javascript components and customize Wordpress and Expression Engine templates and installations.

Built Javascript-powered dashboards to help simplify workflows and organize tasks. Helped Content Platform team build experimental API tools to transform large amounts of content. Built experimental tools and interface prototypes to explore data visualizations and touch interactions.

Built a design system that served more than 700 books from a single code base. This library of responsive themes and modular HTML and SASS/CSS patterns supported medical textbooks and professional reference content for Elsevier, the world’s second largest publisher. This effort saved millions of dollars in production costs.
